Overall Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Director Safety and Ground Operations, to provide oversight for all Airline Ground Operations (GRH and CGO).
Including the monitoring and control of all aspects of DHL Ground Operations and Load Control Operations throughout the DHL Aviation EEMEA B.S.C. area of operations, and the management of Loadmaster and Crew Bus teams.
Your Tasks:
- Responsible for the management and supervision of functions and activities within the scope of Ground Handling (GRH) and Cargo operations (CGO).
- Responsible for ensuring the safety of Ground Handling operations (GRH) and safety and security of Cargo operations (CGO).
- Chairperson for DHL Aviation EEMEA B.S.C. Ground Operations Safety Action Group.
- When requested temporarily assume role as Acting Director Safety and Ground Operations, for DHL Aviation EEMEA B.S.C. AOC.
- Applying his/her expertise and knowledge to develop, implement and oversee management programs and systems which enhance safety and efficiency in Aircraft Ground Handling Operations (GRH and CGO) throughout the DHL Aviation EEMEA B.S.C. area of operations.
- Maintain and implement Standard Ground Handling Agreements (SGHA) for DHL Aviation EEMEA B.S.C. area of operations, as per DHL AGOM (Aviation Ground Operations Manual), such as:
o Cargo Operations (CGO)
o Ground Handling (GRH)
o De-icing
o Catering
o Aircraft internal cleaning
o Aircraft dis-infection program.
o Aircraft dis-insection program.
- Manage compliance of Ground Handling Operations in accordance with regulatory requirements and contractual obligations of Ground Service Providers (GSP) by means of surveillance and reporting via Audits and Investigations.
- Maintain and implement oversight of the dangerous goods handling programme within the DHL Aviation EEMEA B.S.C. network. In addition to the dangerous goods programme have oversight of other special loads and restricted commodities including Live Animals, Perishable Loads, Human Remains, Live Human Organs etc. which may pose a significant risk to the operation.
- Manage weight and balance data for DHL Aviation aircraft and ensure it is correctly recorded and maintained in SABLE.
- Maintain and implement oversight of the Load Control programme within the DHL Aviation EEMEA B.S.C. network. Ensure aircraft loading is undertaken as per the Manufacturers weight and balance manual. Coordination with flight control on aircraft performance issues and unserviceable cargo hold items that reduce capacity.
- Manage Loadmaster team to support network operations. Including defining operational standards, work time limitations and management of rostering and training.
- Manage Crew Bus team to support Bahrain operations. Including defining operational standards, work time limitations and management of rostering and training.
- Other duties as required by the Director Safety and Ground Operations.
- Active member of the Ground Operations team for Emergency Response.
Your Profile:
- At least 5 years within an airline management role.
- Sound understanding of DHL Aviation Network and Airline Operations of at least 2 years management and negotiation experience of SGHA contracts.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical competencies.
- Capable of dealing with many different parties, each with their own interests – negotiation skills are essential for the job holder in obtaining the best solution.
- Expert in Aircraft Load Planning and Ground Operations.
- Extensive operational knowledge of Restricted Commodities.
- Fully aware of Regulatory requirements.
